Well it's been months in the planning but now we're just about ready for the big family trip to the Pacific July to Dec 2015. Catheleen and I have been thinking about taking a mid-career break and doing some travelling with the kids for some time now - we agreed there was no better time than now. John (age 12) and Elizabeth (age 10) are old enough to get some experiences out of the trip and hopefully remember it. If we had waited any longer, we felt we would be impacting the kids' schooling too much as they moved into later grades.
So the planning is done. Plane tickets are booked. Careers are on hold. House sitters are lined up. We'll home school the kids along the way and put them in their grades five and eight starting in January 2016.
